When Tony Mason joined the Tools in 2000, he had an inauspicious beginning, fracturing a finger on the first outfield ball hit to him. Over his seven year career there were other strange moments ... hit in the head by a thrown ball that knocked him silly ... passed on the base paths by Ken Ferebee, negating a home run ... singling, then quietly switching places with first base coach Jeff Franco, neither the umpire or the coach noticing ... hosting the team party and showing up after everyone else. He brought a lot of fun, but also a career .544 batting average, 10th best all time. Tony was a prolific run producer, currently 9th all time in RBI average and 10th in run production average.
